Toyota confirmed on June 5 that it was closing orders for RAV4s with the naturally aspirated 2.0-litre and 2.5-litre four-cylinder engines, as part of a mass cull of petrol-powered models.
This also included versions of the Corolla, Corolla Cross, Camry, and Kluger without hybrid powertrains.
Final deliveries of petrol-powered variants will continue over the next few months, with petrol Kluger deliveries extending into next year.
A whopping 94.2 per cent of RAV4 models sold in the first half of 2024 were equipped with the 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, even higher than the take rate for hybrid versions of the Kluger (76.9 per cent) and Corolla Cross (85.8 per cent).
The axing of petrol models has seen the base price climb by $2500.
The RAV4 is going hybrid-only as some rivals are only just adding hybrid powertrains.
It has an iron grip on the title of best-selling vehicle in its segment. In the first half of this year, Toyota sold 25,405 examples, with the Mitsubishi Outlander a distant second at 14,443 sales.
Toyota confirmed earlier this month that wait times for the RAV4 are now down to just four months on the back of improved supply.

There's now only one powertrain available in the local RAV4 lineup.

It has either 542L of boot space or 580L, depending on the position of the boot floor.
Note this is with the space-saver spare equipped, with no figures available with the full-sized spare offered in the GX.
Servicing and Warranty
The RAV4 is backed by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
Servicing is required every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first. The first five services are capped at $260 each.
Safety
The RAV4 has a five-star safety rating from ANCAP, based on testing conducted by Euro NCAP in 2019.
It received scores of 93 per cent for adult occupant protection, 89 per cent for child occupant protection, 85 per cent for vulnerable road user protection and 83 per cent for safety assist.

Glacier White is the standard paint finish in the RAV4.

- Frosted White (excludes GX)
The XSE is available only in Mineral Blue, Graphite, Silver Sky and Frosted White, all paired with a black roof.
The Edge also has a limited palette, comprising Mineral Blue, Atomic Rush, Eclipse Black, Graphite, and exclusive Jungle Khaki finishes.
All models have a black interior, though the XSE gets blue accents. The Cruiser can be had with optional Nutmeg (beige) leather, while the Edge offers a Orchid Brown and Light Grey Soft interior colourway.
