Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled 88 examples of the C-Class, due to an electrical fault which could result in a vehicle fire.

"Due to a manufacturing issue, a retaining screw between the vehicle's electrical wiring and the fuse box located in the front passenger footwell may not have been tightened sufficiently," the carmaker said in its recall notice.
"As a result, the vehicle may experience a loss of propulsion whilst driving. In addition, electrical resistance in the wiring could increase resulting in a vehicle fire.
"A loss of propulsion whilst driving and/or a vehicle fire could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property."
