A P-plater has been issued multiple infringement notices after being caught driving with four unrestrained children and a defective seatbelt, after attempting to avoid a police testing station.

At 12:40pm on Tuesday, July 9, Nepean Highway Patrol officers were conducting stationary random testing on The Kingsway in St Marys, when they saw a green Toyota Camry make a U-turn over double unbroken lines to allegedly avoid the testing site.
Once police stopped the vehicle, the driver produced a P2 provisional license, however they were not displaying their green P-plates as legally required.
Upon further inspection, police found two unrestrained children seated in the rear footwell and another two incorrectly restrained in car seats.
Police also discovered the driver's seatbelt was defective.
As a result, the driver received several infringement notices, totalling $2868 and 14 demerit points.
In New South Wales, P2 drivers have a demerit point limit of seven points before their license is suspended. The state's transport department can also refuse to renew the licence for three months.
NSW Traffic and Highway Patrol Command remind drivers that no matter how short the trip, it is crucial that all children and passengers are properly restrained.
