Plea to help bring Australian woman home after fall in Dubrovnik, Croatia

Public servant Ella Cutler, 25, is "fighting for her life in a foreign hospital" after a horror fall in Croatia.

It was reported in August that an Australian woman and a man, 34, plunged 10 metres from a medieval fortress wall while holidaying in Dubrovnik.

Both were rushed to hospital with serious injuries and a police spokeswoman told local media that the pair had been intoxicated when they fell and it was being treated as an accident.

Her family has launched a fundraiser to cover close to $100,000 in medical expenses, as well as an air ambulance to bring her back to Australia, at a cost of more than $400,000.

"Ella has spent the last few weeks on a well-earned holiday overseas in Europe," her brother Josh said.

"Unfortunately her trip has been cut short by a devastating accident, which has left her with multiple fractures of her skull and spine, several limbs and 12 ribs, puncturing both lungs and leaving her in a critical condition."

Mr Cutler said Ella had a long road of recovery ahead with further surgeries and months of physical rehabilitation.

"We can only imagine how scared she would be if she knew the full extent of her injuries, and we cannot begin to convey how frightened we are for her, and how important it is for her to come home," he said.

Ella's aunt Rebecca Cutler shared on Facebook that her insurance claim had been denied.

"Right now Ella is in a foreign hospital with brain and spinal injuries and no way to get home," she said.

"My sister and nephew have left their jobs and flown to Europe and are trying to raise the funds to bring Ella home and be treated in an Australian hospital.

"It's not a matter of putting her on a normal flight. Given her spinal injuries she needs to be med evacuated on a special plane.

"The entire situation has been shocking for my family."
