Winnie De Silva and her son Leon are recovering from serious injuries following the crash, with husband Neil supporting the pair in hospital.
Mr De Silva wrote on a crowdfunding page, which has raised over $25,000, that the mother and son have "a lot of surgery ahead of them".
Mr De Silva plans to remain in Queensland throughout his family's recovery and said he "won't be able to return to work".
A donation of $200 was made by the Lara Giants Basketball Club with a note wishing Leon a speedy recovery "from his basketball team".
"Sending all our positive thoughts and love to both Leon and Winnie," the post read.

A crowdfunding webpage is also running for Vanessa Tadros, who died in the crash, and her son Nicholas, who remains on life support, with father Simon Tadros by his side.
The fundraising site said all proceeds will be used to cover funeral and memorial costs, Mr Tadros' loss of income and medical expenses.
The 'GoFundMe' page, raising almost $7000 so far, said Mr Tadros "witnessed the accident unfold and is totally shattered".
Queensland Acting Premier Steven Miles posted condolences to the victims on Twitter, sending his "deepest sympathies to all those involved".
"I want to thank the first responders and members of the public who did all they could to help," he added in the post's comments.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, as well as those who are currently receiving treatment for the injuries," he said.
