NSW, Victoria floods: Body found in Eugowra, man still missing

The two people went missing during a flood emergency in Eugowra on Monday, and police confirmed a woman's body was found at 11am on Wednesday.

While the body is yet to be formally identified it is be believed to be that of a a 60-year old woman Dianne Smith.

The other person missing is Ljubisa 'Les' Vugec. The 85-year-old was last seen at a home in Evelyn Street about 9am on Monday morning.

The flood emergency is far from over in Victoria with 23 watch and act alerts active for the state.

In Tasmania, flood advice warnings remain current for residents in the south and east.

Communities across the NSW Central West have been decimated by floodwaters, as Wyangala Dam continues to pour 230,000 megalitres of water towards towns on the brink.

NSW SES chaplain Steve Hall said Eugowra, in the state's Central West, has been decimated in the disaster.

"Everything they hold dear has been swept away in a wall of water," he said.

There are 121 flood warnings in place across the state, with 25 of those at emergency level, and emergency service personnel have been called in from across the globe to help.

Rescue helicopters, military personnel and international emergency crews are working across the flood zones, while Forbes braces for its second inundation in a fortnight.

In Eugowra, homes have been swept off their foundations and come to rest in the middle of streets and other people's front yards.

"Houses that were number 14 are now at number 28, and the only thing that's stopped it is they've come to rest against a power pole or a tree," Cabonne Council mayor Kevin Beatty told ACM's Parkes Champion Post.

Residents on the outskirts of Tamworth are isolated again, after a heavy deluge caused their main access road to crumble away for the second time in two weeks.

The Murray River at Corowa peaked at 8.11 metres around 09.45 pm Monday and is falling, with moderate flooding, ACM's Border Mail reports.

The river may remain above moderate flood level of 5.09m until the end of November and low-lying areas could be impacted by floodwaters.

In Lismore, council is still struggling to fix roads damaged by floods in February, with general manager John Walker admitting constraints on resources and the prolonged period of wet weather had impacted work.

There are 77 flood warnings in Victoria, this is down from 79 at 3.30pm on Monday.
