Miss Jaffles Cafe opened during the COVID-19 lockdown but their jaffle-tastic offerings made such a splash in the seaside suburb of Cronulla that they have been voted people's choice for best jaffle in Australia in the Wotif Uniquely Aussie Awards.

Business partners Vaseliki (Vass) Vais and Michelle (Mish) Weir say their cafe offers the only jaffle-based menu in the Sutherland Shire and St George areas, with both sweet and savoury concoctions on offer to sate the stomachs of the most covetous carnivores through to the most voracious vegos.
"Our most popular is the Miss Hangover, with bacon, egg, hashbrown, caramelised onion, cheese and sauce," said Mish.
"We've got 15 different jaffles on the menu or people can make up their own."
The most popular on the dessert menu is the Miss Biscoff with Caramilk, Biscoff, strawberries and ice-cream.
"People will travel a long way for that," said Mish.
They also do fan favourites including a pizza jaffle, one with mac and cheese and bacon bits, and an old-time gem with baked beans and cheese.
Vas said it was "a really good feeling" to be able to welcome customers inside for the first time on Freedom Day - having opened the store right as lockdown was imposed - however takeaway was still popular for those wanting to grab and go for a picnic.
What makes the historically daggy jaffle ripe for a revival? Vas said "jaffles are something that takes everyone back to their childhood. We all grew up on jaffles, putting leftovers in the jaffle or creating your own, it's comfort food."
The Wotif Uniquely Aussie Awards, now in their fourth year, aim to encourage Aussies to explore their own backyard and support their favourite businesses.
Other categories included nods for the best vanilla slice, hot chips, country pub and national park.
Wotif Managing Director, Daniel Finch said: "Country charm, cheesy jaffles and creamy vanilla slices - no one does them quite like Australia, and the thousands of nominations we received this year shows Aussies are a passionate bunch."
"There's so much to love and discover about Australia, and with a really exciting summer period ahead, we hope to inspire and encourage Aussies to plan their next adventure and support local businesses," Mr Finch said.
