The council approved the extension at its June 28 meeting.
The recommendation was: "That having regard to the COVID-19 pandemic and the current preparation of a business case for the redevelopment of Jubilee Stadium by the NSW Government, council approve a 12 month extension of the sponsorship agreement with Network Strata Services Pty Ltd (Netstrata) for the naming rights of Jubilee Stadium to 15 January, 2023."
This was unanimously supported by the councillors.
St George-based company Network Strata Services Pty Ltd was confirmed by the council as the naming rights sponsor of Jubilee Stadium in January, 2019 for a three-year period following an Expression of Interest (EOI) process.
Prior to this, Jubilee Stadium had not had a naming rights sponsor since 2017 when the contract with the University of Wollongong expired.
At the time, a council spokesperson confirmed that the per annum value of the Netstrata Jubilee Stadium Naming Rights sponsorship Agreement is $81,000.
Last year's state budget provided $3 million for "the development of a business case to turn Netstrata Jubilee Oval at Kogarah into a revitalised suburban stadium".
