Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced the progress during a quick visit with Heathcote MP Lee Evans.
The project, to be constructed by the Lloyd Group, will include a full basketball court and storage rooms.
A new hall for the school, which opened in 1969, was a 2019 election promise.

A development application (DA) was recently approved by Sutherland Shire Council.
The DA estimated the cost of construction at $7.4 million.
"The primary use of the new multi-purpose hall will be in association with Engadine High School during standard school hours," the DA stated.
"The hall is also designed to be capable of being used for community activities and events after school hours (up to 10pm).
"Community uses may include sports competitions, performances, exhibitions or presentations."
The DA said the existing hall had size limitations, which caused a lack of indoor sports court capacity to support related curricular and recreational use, particularly in extreme weather.
"It cannot accommodate an indoor basketball court or the entire school population in the event of a fire evacuation, which causes a safety risk as the school is situated in a bush fire prone location," the DA said.
"The existing Hall does not lend itself to accommodate an expansion in either direction.
"The project comprises of a new 6 Stream multi-purpose Hall and associated sports stores and large equipment store, stage and associated store rooms, first aid room, change rooms and associated ablutions.
"The new hall will not replace the existing Hall, instead, the new Hall will provide additional evacuation, learning, sporting and performance space."
