The new Rockdale store was opened on March 18 by TV presenter and Harris Scarfe ambassador Barry Du Bois, of Network Ten's The Living Room.
The opening, which included a ribbon-cutting, coincided with a sale on homewares, manchester, electrical, clothing, footwear and underwear. Opening day shoppers were treated to free doughnuts.
Harris Scarfe is one of Australia's most-loved and longest trading retailers but was forced to shut 21 stores across five states in 2020 after the retailer was placed in receivership in December 2019.
Spotlight Group acquired Harris Scarfe in early 2020 and the Rockdale store is the first new Harris Scarfe site in Sydney to open under new ownership.
With the brand well known in South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania, the push into Sydney demonstrates Spotlight Group's confidence in the Harris Scarfe format, a spokeswoman said.
Harris Scarfe chief executive Graham Dean said the Rockdale store opening would be a boost for the local economy.
"We are excited to be able to provide Sydney with access to great brands and great prices in homewares, manchester and apparel, with the signature Harris Scarfe customer service that our shoppers know and love," he said.
"Harris Scarfe offers a balance of well-known brands and exclusive designers and delivers great value and we're pleased to be bringing this back to our loyal Sydney customers."
Executive deputy chairman of the Spotlight Group Zac Fried said 2021 marked a new chapter for Harris Scarfe.
"We are committed to seeing this established business grow and meet its true potential," he said.
"The family is 100 per cent behind Harris Scarfe and is investing a considerable amount of money into the brand.
"We are incredibly excited and optimistic."
