The day also raised money for the NSW Rural Fire Service.
The host team, St George Swim Club finished the day on top winning the overall club point-score with their 60 swimmer strong team.
Dominating the medal dais throughout the day, St George Swim Club showed how much progress they have made for a young club that was formed only three years ago when the BSC Rockdale, Hurstville and Breakers swim clubs amalgamated.
Georges River Councillor Nancy Liu has been involved with the SGSC since its establishment.
"I enjoy its team spirit, which is inspiring and supportive to our swimmers and members," Cr Liu said.
"I am very proud of being part of the SGSC community."
"Councillor Sam Elmir also attended on the day and said he honoured to have been invited.
"It is great to see so many families enjoying this day of competition and fun," he said.
One of the swimmers, Dylan Antao is a national level swimmer in the club.
His mother, Anabela said SGSC provides local swimmers of all ages and levels access to modern facilities and coaching staff necessary to develop their skills which are required in a relaxed and inclusive atmosphere.
"I am happy that my son is part of this club and is able to represent its values," she said.
The meet was described as a wonderful celebration of Australia Day.
As well as the racing that took place all day, there was a real Australia Day flavour, with kickboard races for the littlest swimmers in the crowd, the raising of the Australian Flag during the Australian anthem, a great multicultural mix of people, a thong throwing contest and barbecue.
"And most importantly a good time experienced by all, with big smiles on so many faces. It really was a fantastic event that we are very proud of," Cr Liu said.
