The event was real show-stopper, with the school's annual parade on Friday, August 23, bringing literature to life.
National Book Week (August 17-23) is an initiative of the Children's Book Council of Australia. The celebration is a fun way for kids to grow or re-develop an interest in reading.
Each year, schools are encouraged to tap into their most loved characters and have some laughs with their creative costumes.
Children dress up as their favourite book characters and display their looks to their fellow schoolmates.
The theme of this year's National Book Week is 'reading is my secret power'.
It was a week of exciting events for the Carlton Public, which also recently launched another project on the playground.

Earlier this year the school got $5000 from Ramsgate RSL to create more efficient bubblers, to help save water on school grounds.
The initiative was thanks to the RSL's first School Grant Program, School Care Project, which supports schools to help make the community a better place for residents and in particular, children.
A total of $10,000 was donated to three schools in St George, supporting projects that fall under Ramsgate's Care Program Framework (Community Awareness and Respecting our Environment).
