Three Sutherland Shire girls will compete in the 2019 Baton Twirling World Grand Prix to be held in Limoges, France, in August.

Imogen Talbot, Chantelle Walker and Letitia Walker all from the Sutherland Shire twirling academy, qualified last year for the event in both Artistic Pairs and Artistic Twirling at the National Championships in Rockhampton.
Training at Port Hacking High School, the girls juggle school, work and twirling in order to achieve their dreams of competing in their chosen sport on the world stage.
Baton-twirling, which is judged out of a score of 10 mixes dancing with gymnastics, to make an for an elegant routine which requires precision and skill.
Excited by the August 9-11 event in France, Imogen, the youngest of the trio at 16, believes the best part about competing will be the experience itself.
"During the event it is our goal to make the semi-finals, however just being at the event itself is going to be an awesome experience and we will be able to take a lot away from it," Imogen said.
