Vision Eye Institute opened on August 29 in the East Quarter development on Forest Road.
The clinic provides diagnosis and treatment of cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal and corneal conditions, and vision correction procedures including laser eye surgery and refractive lens exchange.
The co-located Forest Road Day Surgery also has a pre-operative area for patients and two-stage recovery bays.
Eye specialist and surgeon Tess Huynh says the introduction of the clinic to the region is a positive move for the community.
“The relocation has allowed us to advance even further, by hand-picking the latest technology and equipment, and by designing a modern facility tailored to the needs of our patients and clinical team,” she said.
“Patients have access to a comprehensive ophthalmology consulting practice, a laser vision correction suite and a fully equipped day surgery – all in one location.”
She says the clinic will be particularly useful in the multicultural area. Doctors speak a variety of languages including Vietnamese, Cantonese and Mandarin.
“Many of our patients are from non-English speaking backgrounds, and we endeavour to provide consultations in different languages wherever possible,” she said.
Fellow specialist Jason Cheng says clinic will particularly benefit the area’s large Asian population.
“Even though many of my Chinese patients speak English, some are more comfortable communicating in their native language,” he said.
