Heathcote MP Lee Evans said the work had included upgrading track surfaces with elevated boardwalks and sandstone staircases, and installation of small viewing platforms and pedestrian overtaking bays.
A drinking fountain and public amenities had also been added at the start of the walk at Bundeena.
Mr Evans said the improvements provided greater accessibility and a better visitor experience while reducing impacts on native vegetation.
“The Coast Track is walked by more than 80,000 visitors each year,” he said.
“The upgrades include four kilometres of elevated boardwalks, rest stops and the addition of 11 small viewing platforms between Marley Beach and Wattamolla.
“More than 560 metres of stunning sandstone stairs have also been added to North Garie headland, as well as 390 metres of elevated boardwalks, rest stops and viewing platforms constructed from Burgh Ridge to Burning Palms.
“The work consolidates the $1.8 million upgrade works completed on the Coast Track in the Royal National Park last year from Bundeena to Marley Beach.”
