Kambosos, from Sylvania, won his bout against highly-fancied Qamil Balla – to take his professional record to 12-0 – on the undercard for the WBO heavyweight title fight between Joseph Parker and Razvan Cojanu in New Zealand.
It was a commanding performance from the Rockdale PCYC fighter who dominated his fellow Australian almost from start to finish to win comfortably via a unanimous decision with scores of 99-90 98-91 98-93.
The victory was further proof that Kambosos is ready for the big fights overseas. He will back up to fight Franklin Mamani in Sydney on June 10.
Kambosos, ranked No.9 in the World Boxing Council, will take on the No.15-ranked Bolivian for the vacant WBC international lightweight title in what could be a big step towards a world title fight.
