Sylvania boxer George Kambosos Jnr has kept his undefeated pro record alive and is set to move further up the world rankings after defeating fellow Australian boxer Brandon Ogilvie at Sydney’s Luna Park.

The pair were the highest-ranked lightweights in the country going into the fight last Friday.
Kambosos (11-0) clearly outscored the higher-ranked Ogilvie (17-2-1) winning the 12-round fight on points. The match was scored 116-112, 119-110, 118-110 in Kambosos’ favour. Going into the fight, Kambosos, 23, was ranked no.14 in the world on the WBA rankings while Ogilvie was ranked no.12. The win will see Kambosos climb the WBA rankings when they are updated.
“I talked the talk and I walked the walk last night with a boxing statement, I am the number 1 lightweight in Australia. Much respect to brilliant Brandon Ogilvie,” he posted on his Facebook page.
Meanwhile, Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen will go toe-to-toe with fellow NRL player Junior Paulo in a charity boxing bout this Friday.
The bout at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion is the first of two boxing fights this month for Gallen. He will also fight at Shark Park on December 23 against MMA fighter Ryan Carr.
