Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC are the two Sydney clubs in the A-League.
A weekend media report suggested that Tim Cahill, the face of Australian football, could be lured back to Australia to play for the new club if formed by the FFA, after his stint in China with Shanghai Shenhua is over.
Cahill went to school in St George and still has strong links with the region.
Kogarah Oval is used by many sporting organisations and was an important training centre for the recent AFC Asian Cup.
The Asian Cup champions — the Socceroos — and teams such as Bahrain and Qatar have trained at the famous ground.
Kogarah mayor Michael Platt said if there were plans for sporting or community organisations to use Kogarah Oval, the council would welcome discussions.
"Kogarah Oval is a wonderful facility used by sporting groups and community organisations," Cr Platt said.
Cr Platt said the council had not seen or been presented with any plans for another tenant at this stage.
