Christ Church Bexley will host an information night attended by two St George police officers following a drive-by shooting at a Bexley house on Tuesday morning.
It was the 10th shooting since August last year.
Anglican minister, James Lewis, said the church did not want to ignore the problem and hoped the night would ease the anxiety of residents.
"This particular crime generates its own unique anxiety because it appears to be random in nature and the chance of innocent people being hurt is enhanced," he said.
Mr Lewis said there was a strong need to address the community's concerns, especially after one member expressed that their children were upset by the constant news of gun-related crime.
"We hope there is a sense of community coming together on the issue so that people aren't alone," he said.
"Part of a positive way of dealing with the issue is coming together."
He said the night was also a chance for police to talk directly to residents and discuss concerns.
"It is very tragic that organised crime has to go to that level where the only solution seems to be to drive past houses and shoot bullets into it," he said.
"We are deeply concerned that people that are not related at all may be injured in the process."
Mr Lewis said the church would pray for the community, for the victims of crime, their families and for police support in their efforts.
"Our greatest desire is that people who are engaged in this type of crime would respond to Jesus and receive the forgiveness He freely offers to all," he said.
People from all denominations are invited to attend the meeting and share their stories and express concerns.
