Known for her dancing skills and piano playing she was the daughter building contractor William Frank, who was also a singer.
Her mother Martha Frank had an orchestra called the Black and White Band, which played at the Castle Palace, Rockdale.
In later years May and her sister Edna entertained in nursing homes in the St George area.
May started dancing at 14, winning a Charleston dance contest at the Acme Picture Palace Rockdale in 1928.
For many years May danced up to three times a week doing Old Time and New Vogue with her dancing and life partner of more than 30 years, Dennis Sherring,
May said dancing was wonderful for fitness and music gave much joy, and that it was never too late to start.
May married three times.
She managed the David Jones cafe area then opened her own coffee/restaurant in the city and also operated the Coffee Bean in the Woolworths Arcade, Hurstville, for 18 years.
May lives an independent life with the support of her partner, family and friends.
